Why are we Being Sold Slop Still

In this weeks post of "The Talk Show", John Gruber has on Andru Edwards. They spend most of the show discussing the Google Pixel event and honestly seemed like they didn't have much to bring to the conversation. The topic quickly turned to AI and what the Pixel 10 will be having. Then as someone who thinks AI is greatly exagerated I was once again reminded of this by John Gruber talking about how if you're ignoring this stuff your going to be left behind. WHat was the feature that they though was so great? The ability to locate low sodium can of beans on a shelf by the camera. Something you could do for 100 years by asking someone who works there is now the "super human" ability of your phone. I'm really reaching a breaking point with AI enthusiasts like Gruber. Does AI do some moderately simple tasks like answer who was in a movie or how to find a recipe based on what I have. To say anything it has done yet is "superhuman" is setting that bar so low ana ant could step over it. Until those covering AI start to be dead honest with themselves and us we get to see companies like OpenAI release incremental upgrades and tell us how this is what will revolutionize the world. Yet they continue to push a technology that has to have a big warning placed on every answer that it maybe completely made up.
